The Delhi Jal Board (DJB), November 17, 2025, issued a notification amending the Delhi Water & Sewer (Tariff and Metering) Regulations, 2012. Acting under the powers granted by Section 109 of the Delhi Water Board Act, 1998, the Board has introduced a partial amendment to Regulation 21(c), which governs late payment surcharges on outstanding water and sewer bills.
Through this amendment, the existing late payment surcharge rate has been reduced from 5% to 2%, with immediate effect. This change reflects the Board’s intention to ease financial burdens on consumers and promote timely payments by aligning surcharge rates with current policy considerations.
The amendment applies across all consumer categories covered under the 2012 Regulations and is now in force. Consumers are advised to take note of the revised surcharge structure for all future billing cycles.
